The Tacticians!

 

Thank Crunchie its Friday or something like that!!! Even though I am working the graveyard shift on Saturday night starting at 8!!!
This morning was the coldest ive felt in a long while, could be something to do with the stone in weight that i have lost in the past couple of weeks!!  :) Again dropping the kids off at school I eagerly! went back home to await my walking partner for the day Mark.  Ive known Mark for a good few years and oddly enough we decided to tackle the Parish this year for the first time without prior discussion.  Mark is a bit like me, determined to the end, focused and up for a challenge or three!!!!!
He arrived shortly before 10 having dropped his kids off at school and so it started, Out of Andreas towards Sulby turning right onto the B3 Jurby East Road heading towards Jurby.  Today was different today was more relaxed, the pace was even and not rushed, passing baby lambs, the odd horse and mooing cow before we knew it we were at the end of the Polly Road turning right onto the Coast Road, Parish Course heading down to the Lhen.  It was great walking and talking, chatting about nothing and everything.  I hadnt caught up with Mark properly for ages and it was nice to do so.  Chatting about tactics, like the couple of Pro's we were!! sharing advice that we had 2nd hand from people who had been successful in our challenge and still at a very modest pace of just over 4mph. 
Bitterly cold wind coming off the Irish Sea near Blue Point and all the way to Bride only stopping once in a hedgerow, think its our age we arrived in Bride to a man fixing a wall tiping his cap and asking us if we were practising for the Parish.  Continuing on out of Bride towards Ramsey we headed turning right towards Regaby and eventually right onto my favourite road the Bayr ny Hayrey, dont know why it just is perhaps its the impossing building and stud farm that Mr Trevor Hemmings owns (hope he gets me the winner at the national Again this year!!!)
On getting home I checked the all powerful, almighty Endomondo who said that we had travelled 15miles in 3hrs 40 with an average speed of 4.1 which to be fair i could cope with and is a finishing race pace!!!!!!
Will probably get out tomorrow with the mutts for 4 miles, will record it however im sure that with the spaniels 6-8 pit stops and countless water releaving breaks not forgetting the Belgian Malinois efforts will be slow.  Sunday is the next proper time out which hopefully be around 9 to get to my weekly target.
